About the role
Distribution grids are moving from passive networks to actively managed systems with sensors, controllable loads and automated switching. Our clients need a coherent target picture, not a set of disconnected pilots. As Principal Architect you define reference architectures that span field devices, communications, OT security and data platforms, and you advise client leadership on sequencing and investment. You support the bid team on large tenders and EU proposals, and you coach lead engineers across our engineering practices.
What you will do
- Define reference architectures for digital substations, ADMS/SCADA integration and grid data platforms
- Advise client technical leadership on digitalisation roadmaps and investment sequencing
- Review designs from engineering teams for consistency, security and maintainability
- Lead technical content for major tenders and CEF or Horizon Europe proposals
- Represent our position in standards and industry working groups where appropriate
What you bring
- 12+ years in power systems, grid automation or utility IT, including senior architecture roles
- Broad knowledge of IEC 61850, CIM, ADMS and OT security principles
- Experience advising executive stakeholders at grid operators or energy companies
- Record of technical leadership across multi-disciplinary programmes
- German at B2 or above
Good to have
- Active participation in CIGRE, VDE FNN or IEC working groups
- Experience with flexibility markets or redispatch processes
