Services

We design and deliver the systems behind the energy transition: metering and grid data, sovereign cloud platforms, sustainability reporting and secure architectures, for organisations working with private capital or EU funding.

Grid and metering digitalisation

Architecture and delivery for smart metering, substation automation and the operational data that distribution and transmission operators now depend on.

Germany restarted its smart meter rollout with a new law in May 2023, and suppliers have had to offer dynamic tariffs since January 2025. For operators this means gateway administration, meter data management and billing systems that must exchange data reliably at a far higher volume than before. We design those chains end to end and help operators decide what to build, buy or run as a service.

Beyond the meter, we work on substation communication based on IEC 61850, network models built on the Common Information Model, and the data feeds that flexibility markets and grid connection processes need. The EU Action Plan for Grids of November 2023 asks for networks that are digitalised and used more efficiently. Our work is to make that concrete in a specific control room or asset register.

Typical deliverables

  • Target architecture for meter-to-billing and meter-to-grid-planning data flows
  • Smart meter gateway administration and integration concept
  • IEC 61850 and CIM data model alignment across OT and IT
  • Implementation roadmap with procurement packages and acceptance criteria

Energy data platforms and data spaces

Platforms that let operators, market participants and public bodies share energy data under clear rules on access, quality and sovereignty.

The Commission's 2022 action plan on digitalising the energy system set out the ambition for a Common European Energy Data Space, and the Data Act has applied since 12 September 2025. Both raise practical questions: who may access connected-device data, in what format, under which contract terms, and how that access is logged.

We design data platforms that answer those questions in code as well as in policy. That includes data products for grid planning and flexibility, interoperable interfaces, consent and access management, and the governance that keeps a shared platform usable after the funded project has ended.

Typical deliverables

  • Data platform architecture with ingestion, storage, catalogue and access layers
  • Data Act access and sharing assessment for connected energy assets
  • Interface specifications aligned with data space connector approaches
  • Data governance model with ownership, quality rules and operating roles

CSRD, ESRS and EU taxonomy data systems

Reporting systems that trace each sustainability figure back to a source an auditor can inspect.

Sustainability reporting under the CSRD and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards is a data engineering problem before it is a disclosure problem. The Omnibus simplification agreed in December 2025 narrowed which undertakings must report, but those still in scope face the same requirement for evidence that will stand up to assurance. EU taxonomy alignment adds activity-level data on revenue, capital expenditure and operating expenditure.

We build the data pipelines between ERP systems such as SAP S/4HANA, energy and emissions sources and the reporting tool. We document lineage, define controls and keep the logic maintainable, so that next year's report does not start again from spreadsheets.

Typical deliverables

  • ESRS datapoint mapping to source systems and owners
  • EU taxonomy eligibility and alignment data model at activity level
  • Data lineage and control documentation prepared for limited assurance
  • Reporting platform selection and integration plan

Technical delivery for EU-funded programmes

The technical work inside funded projects, from the application's work packages to the evidence required at final reporting.

Funding programmes ask for more than a good idea. A Connecting Europe Facility Energy application, a Horizon Europe consortium, a Digital Europe deployment, an Interreg cooperation project or an Innovation Fund proposal each needs a credible technical concept, realistic work packages and measurable deliverables. We write and review those technical sections with applicants and consortium partners. We do not replace the grant adviser; we make sure the IT inside the proposal can actually be built.

Once a project is funded, we act as architect, delivery lead or technical assurance. For measures under Germany's Deutscher Aufbau- und Resilienzplan (DARP), the Recovery and Resilience Facility required milestones to be met by 31 August 2026, with final payments due by the end of 2026, so the current priority is complete and verifiable evidence. We keep documentation, test records and acceptance reports in the form funders and auditors expect.

Typical deliverables

  • Technical concept and work package structure for funding applications
  • Architecture and delivery plan matched to programme milestones
  • Evidence and documentation pack for interim and final reporting
  • Independent technical review of consortium deliverables

Sovereign cloud and public-sector platforms

Cloud and platform architectures for organisations that must keep control over where their data sits and who operates it.

Utilities, agencies and research bodies increasingly run critical workloads in the cloud, but with conditions attached: data residency in the EU, transparent subcontracting, exit plans and attestations such as BSI C5. We assess providers against those conditions, design landing zones and plan migrations that keep operational technology and sensitive records where they belong.

In the public sector we work on the platforms behind citizen and business services, registers and inter-agency data exchange. We favour open standards and modular procurement, so that an administration is not tied to one supplier for the next decade.

Typical deliverables

  • Cloud sourcing strategy with sovereignty and exit criteria
  • Landing zone and network architecture for hybrid and sovereign cloud
  • Migration plan with workload classification and sequencing
  • Procurement specifications for public tenders

Security by design and NIS2

Security built into architecture and delivery from the first design review, in line with NIS2 and sector standards.

NIS2 widened the circle of organisations with binding cybersecurity duties, and Germany's implementing act has been in force since December 2025, with registration at the BSI. Energy is squarely in scope. Compliance after the fact is expensive, and it rarely produces systems that are secure in operation.

We bring security into the architecture: network segmentation between IT and OT, identity and access design, secure development practice and supplier risk management. We align the work with ISO/IEC 27001, IEC 62443 for industrial control systems and BSI IT-Grundschutz where it applies, and we prepare the documentation that supervisors will ask for.

Typical deliverables

  • NIS2 applicability and gap assessment
  • Security architecture for IT/OT integration
  • Security requirements embedded in specifications and tenders
  • Information security management system documentation aligned with ISO/IEC 27001
