Junior Software Engineer, Energy Data

Scope
We hire junior engineers every year because energy data work needs people who learn the domain early. In this role you join one of our delivery teams and write production code from your first month, with code review and pairing from senior engineers. You build APIs, data processing services and tests for platforms used by grid operators and suppliers. Over the first year you rotate through data engineering, platform and integration work so you can choose where to specialise.
Tasks
- Write and test backend services in Python, Java or Kotlin
- Build data processing jobs for meter readings and grid measurements
- Contribute to CI pipelines, container images and deployment manifests
- Fix defects and improve monitoring for services already in production
- Take part in code reviews, design discussions and sprint planning
Required
- Degree in computer science, engineering, physics or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Programming experience in at least one of Python, Java, Kotlin or Go
- Basic knowledge of SQL, Git and Linux
- Interest in energy systems and the technical side of the energy transition
- English at C1; you can explain a technical decision in writing

- Internship or student work in software development
- First experience with Docker or Kubernetes
